Quest-Bots, not to be confused with Robots, gather selected materials, Space Bucks, and even keys. Each kind can be upgraded to increase amount collected and decrease collection time. The bay can also be upgraded to either permenently or temporarily increase available bot slots. Only one of each bot type can be deployed at any given time, for example, one cannot send out two bots to collect solar at the same time. Each bot is unlocked at a set level. Once that level is reached, that bot can be selected as many times as the pilot desires.
Types[]
Bots are sorted into two groups, although both behave the same way. Note that currently parts are not dropped to upgrade quest bots, you can only upgrade them by using solar
Mineral Bots[]
The first group is the Mineral bots, these are bots that collect asteroid materials:

It should be noted that they key collected is random. Note that it appears that only blue keys are currently given out (12/02/2015 v1.0.17)
I took notes over some time. This is what I got from an unleveled keybot: 19x blue, 13x green, 5x pink, 4x red, 5x purple, 46 in total. With a little rounding, this gives a 40% chance for blue, 30% green and 10% pink, red purple each. (29/05/2017 version unknown, survey was done late march and april)
